Headline Observations
How should headline features be interpreted?
Length, numbers, years, question marks, capitalization, and repeated words are observations. They receive no score or CTR multiplier. Adding a number does not automatically improve a headline; a list must contain that many real items. Use a year only when the content is current to that period. Claims such as “guaranteed” must be supported by the page.
On Turkish pages, the target phrase is matched as an exact word sequence after Turkish lowercasing and NFC normalization. Inflections, synonyms, and search intent are not interpreted; “SEO” does not match “seology.” Hyphens and punctuation split tokens. A match only reports the phrase; it does not establish headline quality or ranking potential. Repetition alone is not a spam diagnosis.
Synthetic example: “2026 Technical SEO Guide: How to Audit SEO” contains a number, a year, and a question; “SEO” appears twice, and “technical SEO” starts at the second word. These features add no score; check that the year and guide scope match the page.
Write a headline that reflects the reader's question and the page's actual scope. Google sets no fixed character limit for title links; display may be truncated to fit the device, and Google may generate the title from other sources. Google title link documentation.
When comparing headline variants using CTR, keep query, page, device, country, and impression coverage consistent. A before/after percentage alone does not prove causation. This tool does not connect to Search Console. Meta Draft Preview. Calculations run in your browser.
